Getulio Vargas Foundation<\/a><\/strong> (FGV) is the 3rd top-ranking think tank in the world, according to the Global Go To Think Tanks Index released by the University of Pennsylvania. The School of Social Sciences (FGV CPDOC) is a major center for teaching and research in the Social Sciences and Contemporary History located in Rio de Janeiro. Back in 1973, CPDOC was created as a center for research and documentation of Brazil\u2019s contemporary history. <\/p>

Today, it is home to an extensive collection of personal archives, oral history interviews and audiovisual materials, counting more than 2 million records covering a whole range of subjects, including politics, economics, social movements, public policy, and foreign relations. We offer undergraduate and graduate degrees, and provide a range of continuing education activities. Teaching is consciously included as part of the current research agendas of faculty members.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Eduardo Mello<\/strong> is an assistant professor of Politics and International Relations at Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Getulio Vargas, Brazil. He is currently Head of the Undergraduate Program at the School of International Relations. His research interests include governance, poverty reduction, the political economy of education, clientelism, the provision of public goods, and political corruption. Dr. Mello is currently working on a large-scale research project on the political and economic factors driving levels of political corruption in new democracies. He received his Ph.D. from the London School of Economics.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Celso Castro<\/strong> is the Dean of Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Getulio Vargas\u2019s School of Social Sciences\/FGV CPDOC (Brazil). He received his Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the National Museum\/UFRJ, Brazil (1995) and was a visiting scholar at the University of Florida, the University of Oxford and El Colegio de M\u00e9xico. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Freedom of Information Archive (FOIArchive) project, based at Columbia University (2019-2020), and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Brazilian Studies Association (BRASA).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
